Find Jesus Now

The most important thing for you to know right now is that God loves you. You have heard of John 3:16. You have seen it at football games, in the end zone remember. But what does it say? “For God so loved the world.” That’s “the world”, not just holy, good people who finally get it all together. No. He loves faulty, messed up, losing people.

He is seeking you. Like the story of the prodigal son, the Father is watching for you. Luke 15:11–32. Jesus is looking for you my friend. Luke 19:10. He is looking for you. You are looking for Him. You will find Him. He will find you. That’s who He loves—you, and who He gave His Son for—you.

He gave His Son. We have a problem. We are sinners. In other words we do things that are evil and selfish. Often we are not even aware of our own motives. God knows these things. We are all in this position. He gave His son for people in this situation, all of us. See Romans 5:6–8 and Ephesians 2:4–5. It is because he loves us and is gracious. Grace is giving something that is not deserved. We have done absolutely nothing to deserve His kindness, but we certainly do need it. We will never deserve His love. He simply lavishes it on us. See Ephesians 1:8. Can’t you even sense it now? He loves you. He accepts you. If you have never come before, come now. Relax in His presence, love and forgiveness. If you are coming back, relax once again in His loving acceptance. Like the father of the prodigal son, his is standing, waiting, looking for you. He goes out every day. He stands. He looks, for you.

“That whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” Yes. Believe. Come believe. The gift of forgiveness, acceptance, and life, is for those who believe. He died for everyone, but it is only effective for you if you believe.

So you have trouble believing. Then remember, or if you have never heard, or can’t remember, look at Mark 9:23–24. Go ahead and read the whole story if you like. The father of the boy is having trouble believing. He asks Jesus to help his unbelief. One Christian writer goes so far to say that when you pray this prayer, “Lord, I believe, help my unbelief,” you will never be lost. Why? How can it be? Because you are believing! “Whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Now thank Him for it. Keep coming to Him each day. Read His word, especially the Gospels; Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Reading His word every day will strengthen your belief. Ask Him to come and be your life. Ask Him to help you believe. And thank Him for it.
